Physics Teacher Professional Standards



The quality of an activity can be measured if it has been the adoption of quality standards which relating to the activities undertaken. The standards are very useful in the policies that lead to the coordination, consistency and coherence to the improvement, because with the standard everyone will be heading to the common perception.
Teacher standards set forth in UURI No 14 of 2005 on Teachers and Lecturers, said that teachers have four competence is pedagogic competence (the ability to manage student learning), personal competence (the ability of a stable personality, noble, wise, and dignified and exemplary learners), social competence (the ability of teachers to communicate and interact effectively and efficiently with students, fellow teachers, parents / guardians of students, and community), and professional competence (skills mastery of subject matter, in wide and deep).
Along with learning the essence of Physics and Physics, and the purpose of subject groups of Science and Technology set out in Regulation of Minister National Education No. 22 of 2006, and Graduate Competency Standards (SKL) is contained in Regulation of Minister of National Education No. 23 in 2006 then in the fourth teacher competence can be elaborated into physics teacher professionalism standards as follows:
  1. Mastering the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in physics, also learning
  2. Able to develop questions of inquiry based on authentic student experience
  3. Skillfully guide students in every stage of inquiry
  4. Vibrant, attractive, speaks clearly, in understanding inculcate in their students equitably to all students
  5. Skillfully guide students in assessing themselves (self-assessment)
  6. Skillfully manage time in learning.
  7.  Skillfully manage the materials, equipment, media and technology according to the material being taught
  8.  Skilled at designing several learning activity for the working group, which is essential in the inquiry.
  9. Having an understanding and ability to integrate knowledge in Physics with curriculum, learning and students.
  10.  Skilled at developing purpose of learning, teaching strategies, assessment and other material contained in the curriculum.
